Budaörs students start the school year in a modernised school
The renovation and energy modernisation of the roof structure of the Budapest-based, Benedictine-run St. Benedict School (St. Benedict Technical College, Grammar School, Vocational Grammar School and Vocational Training School, Budaörs Branch) has been completed. The ceremonial handover on 2 September was attended by the designers Robert Gutowski Architects Kft. and the contractors ÉPKOMPLEX Épitőipari és Szolgáltató Kft. – as did Budaörsi Napló, which reports about it.
Two phases of funding
As Gábor Titus Hardi, Director General of Education of the Pannonhalma Abbey revealed in his speech, the order has received 960 million HUF in 2021 from the government
reconstruction of the roof structure of the building, which is in a structurally critical condition.
Thanks to new government funding and the support of the Archabbey of Pannonhalma, it was possible to
- replacement of the building's windows and doors,
- insulation and colouring of the building,
- and the replacement of the high and low voltage electricity network.
Three times the oversubscription
Tamás Wittinghoff, Mayor of Budaörs in his welcome speech, he stressed that their goal was to make education in the municipality as diverse as possible, so they handed over the school building to the Benedictine Order in a spirit of mutual trust. He also said that the local government had not let go of the educational institutions of the municipality even after the schools had been put under state maintenance, and that they were contributing hundreds of millions of forints to their operation.
Miklós Soltész, Minister of State for the Prime Minister's Office pointed out at the opening ceremony that the Budaörs institution has three times the number of over-enrolments. He added:
A number of companies in Budaörs - including road construction, telecoms and IT - need replacement professionals. And the Benedictine Order has taken on this task.
