Two thousand square metre healthcare building inaugurated in Kecskemét

The new nurses" residence of the Bács-Kiskun County Teaching Hospital, built at a cost of 1.5 billion forints, was officially inaugurated on Thursday in Kecskemét. The facility, built under contract Gomép Kft. construction of the facility, which is 2,000 square metres in size and has 80 beds, meets 21st-century standards and complies with the latest technical, thermal and energy requirements, according to statements made at the event.

The two-storey building has 20 double and 40 single apartments. Each unit has a bathroom and kitchenette. The development also includes 70 parking spaces and 10 bicycle storage facilities.

Increasing the competences of qualified nurses

Speaking at the ceremony, Péter Takács, Minister of State for Health of the Ministry of the Interior, said that nursing is one of the most beautiful professions a person can choose. He stressed that the Hungarian government is constantly aiming to improve the living conditions of health workers, in addition to their financial appreciation.

He announced that this autumn he will present to the government a package of competences for professionals, in which well-trained professionals with higher and university degrees will be entitled to interventions and therapeutic options that were previously only available with a medical degree, but which their qualifications will entitle them to do. The legislative framework for this will be the next step," he added.
