Significant improvement in the infrastructure of Pilisborosjenő with the recently completed development

KM Építő Kft.'s project to improve road safety in Pilisborosjenő has been successfully completed, magyarepitok.hu reports.As reported in our previous article, the project was implemented in two parts in the village and its surroundings at the entrance to the Pilis:

• on the one hand, improvements were made to the outskirts of the municipality with a total value of HUF 144 million,
• on the other hand, in the Ófalu area, infrastructure improvements were made for HUF 75.9 million.

Three bus stop pairs have also been renovated

According to the report sent to this newspaper, the construction works in the outer part of the municipality consisted of the following four parts:

• reconstruction of Kövesbérc street and construction of a parallel parking lot,
• renovation of the "Kövesbérc street" bus stop and the construction of a pedestrian crossing,
• renovation of the "Solymár, Brickworks access road" bus stop pair,
• at "Outer Vienna Road 35." renovation of a pair of bus stops.

A dangerous accident blackspot has been eliminated

Another significant aspect of the development is that it has eliminated the extremely dangerous crossing of the national blue route along Kövesbérci Street on the main road 10. There have been a number of hit-and-runs here in recent years, but this will now be eliminated following the installation of a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights at the junction of Kövesbérci Street and the main road 10 (Vienna Road), in conjunction with the street lighting upgrade.

During the above-mentioned renovation of Kövesbérc Street, the old bad pavement was replaced by new pavement. A large section of the road is pedestrian-only, with a width of 2.25 metres. The other section is 4 metres wide, on which local residents can drive with a vehicle permit. A parallel parking lane has been constructed on the left-hand side of the road beyond the corner of Panorama Street and Kövesbérci Street.

Safer access to the playground

The improvements in the Old Village of Pilisborosjenő consisted of three parts:

• the construction of the missing sidewalk sections of Kossuth Square and Prohászka Ottokár Street;
• renovation of the Main Road pavement and construction of a new pavement,
• and the construction of a P+R car park.

One of the main aims of the improvements was to improve both the pavements and parking areas of the municipality. In this spirit, the accessibility of the playground on Prohászka Ottokár Street was improved: a new pavement was built for families on their way to the playground, replacing the missing section at the Kossuth Square - Prohászka Ottokár Street intersection.

New car park promotes pedestrian access instead of hiking

A similar improvement was made on Main Road between the intersection of Ilona Street and Main Road 13, where the pedestrian walkway to the bus stop was missing: its replacement solved the problem of pedestrians accessing the bus. The other benefit of the project was the repair of a badly deteriorated pavement between the intersection of Ilona Street and 1 Main Street. This is important because there is also significant pedestrian traffic here due to the nearby school.

The report also explained the importance of the P+R parking spaces built in the project. According to this, due to the natural conditions of Pilisborosjenő, hikers arrive by car mainly to Kövesbérc. The free P+R car park on Budai út, next to the fire station, will make their life easier. A total of 21 parking spaces for vehicles and 1 disabled parking space have been created. The parking area is illuminated by six solar panels.

The project with the ID VEKOP-5.3.2-15-2020-00061 was implemented with EU funding under the name "Pilisborosjenő traffic safety improvements".
