Another project handed over in the comprehensive investment of the Gyöngyös bypass

Work on the national road works of the Gyöngyös Western Bypass Phase II has been completed, according to the investor Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium (ÉKM). As previously reported, the various parts of the overall project are being carried out by the consortium of HE-DO and Colas Út Építőipari Zrt..

According to Monday's ÉKM, improvements to the construction of the city's western bypass have now been put into service: a nearly 500-metre-long reconstructed section of Highway 3, a new roundabout and a weigh station.

The Great Brook bridge has also been renewed

The ÉKM also reported that the sections of the Western Bypass that were put into service were those that were reconstructed from existing roads with traffic restrictions. Pavement reinforcement, pavement widening and axle weight space construction were completed on the section of Highway 3 between km 79+610 and km 80+093, and a turbo roundabout junction was constructed. Until the end of the intervention phase, a dividing lane with the same design as the section preceding the roundabout was constructed between the traffic directions.

Additional works have also been carried out on Highway 3. On the Great Brook Bridge here, insulation and pavement replacement was carried out. The superstructure was repaired and new curbs were installed. At the same time, 60 metres of axle weight measurement points were installed on the right and left side of the main road. The 4 m wide axle weight measuring point was paved with concrete. In both directions, a 2.5 m wide standing space for test vehicles was created.

Gyöngyös inland sections completed last year

As part of the project, a section of the municipal road 3203 and the Southern Border Road were upgraded, a new roundabout junction was built and the gateways were rebuilt. The project also included the construction of a road to the sewage treatment plant and a dirt road to access the properties.

Also as part of the project, the Gyöngyös inner sections of the bypass were completed last year. The new section of the western bypass is still under construction.

The total investment amounts to around HUF 4.5 billion, and the project will be implemented entirely with domestic funding. The bypass is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024.
