The route of the main road 31 between Maglód and Gyömrő is being redesigned

Previously, we wrote about the planning phase of the development of main road 31, which is being carried out by Főmterv Zrt.. Now there is more news about the development: on Friday, the investor Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium (ÉKM) issued a statement saying that the needs of the local population will be taken into account in the planning of the main road, so the route of Main Road 31 affecting the Maglód and Gyömrő areas will be redesigned. Planning work is continuing on the other sections of the main road under construction, they added.

According to the statement, during the meeting, the Ministry presented the complete design trajectory of the planned Highway 31, consisting of 7 sections.

Alternative technical solutions

As pointed out, taking into account the requests of the city administration and the population, ÉKM decided not to continue the design work of the design section between road 3111 and the existing main road 31 (Maglod), which includes a bark tunnel, with the current technical content. This section has seen an increase in population due to the recent wave of construction, which has a major impact on the possible technical solutions for the road. The planned bark tunnel also serves to reduce the above-ground road surface.

The ministry has asked the planner to study and develop alternative technical solutions for the section between Highway 31 and 3111, taking into account the public's concerns

From the M0 to Nagykata

They added that the design work on the other sections of the 31 motorway will continue according to the original schedule. The design work on the main road will start from the M0 from the capital and will follow a new route to Nagykátátá, aiming to improve the quality of life of the people living in the area, to address their traffic problems and to increase the safety of road users, ÉKM said in a statement.
