The construction of the new bridge over the M7 has also started

In March, began a complex bridge demolition and construction project on the M7 motorway, directly where the road runs near Lake Velence. The project is being implemented as part of the MKIF Hungarian Concession Infrastructure Development Zrt. investment.

The new bridge structure will be built approximately 20 metres away from the current bridge, which is 3 metres wide and has a 9% rise, and will be 4.5 metres wider than before, with a 5% length.

Why a new bridge is being built

Because technical studies carried out before the preparatory work for the construction of the bridge showed that it would be more expensive to renovate the old bridge than to build a new one. In addition to the technical condition of the structure, another reason for its demolition was that the widening of the M7 motorway, due to start in 2027, would make it too big to accommodate the widened track underneath. The new structure, now under construction, will be built in line with the development needs of the M7 and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Utilities replaced, World War II munitions removed
