From now on, the quality of the Postapalota's reconstruction will also be marked by a Nívódíj plaque

The Magyar Építő Zrt. has won another award, according to the company's Facebook post.In December 2022, the MNB Surveillance Centre and Money Museum - better known as the Postal Palace - won the Construction Award of Excellence in the category "Restoration and reconstruction of monuments and buildings".

Magyar Építő Zrt. was involved in the reconstruction of the facility as general contractor for the interior structural and facade works. László Oravecz, Deputy Chief Technical Officer, and László Háklár, Chief Engineer of the project facility, received the certificate of recognition on behalf of the company on 11 October.

The country's first office building restored from the original 1924 plans

The former Postal Palace on Széll Kálmán Square, built in 1926 to the design of architect Gyula Sándy, was the first office building in the country. The listed building has been completely renovated: with the creation of the Money Museum, Magyar Nemzeti Bank wanted to create a centre for the transfer of historical and practical knowledge about the use of money, a stronghold of public education on finance in Hungary.

The renovation was based on the original 1924 plans and the building was rebuilt as a new space with modern features, while retaining its characteristic Art Nouveau features. MNB Real Estate Kft. was responsible for the first phase of the project, while Magyar Építő Zrt. was responsible for the subsequent interior design and restoration work.

The building also houses the most spectacular money museum in Central Europe

During the renovation, the courtyard was covered at the height of the slab above the first floor, so that the view of the courtyard facades was preserved. The glazed roof sections are connected to the solid roof sections with a green area in the middle, which, with its unique light structure, stands like a "grove of trees" in the middle of the former courtyard.

The offices are contemporary in design, with conference and meeting rooms, exclusive meeting rooms and a wide range of meeting rooms. An underground car park has been built under the beautifully landscaped gardens adjacent to the building. It is also home to the most spectacular money museum in Central Europe, with independent access from Sándy köz thanks to the pedestrian passageway created as part of the project.
