Special primer made under the paper machine

The publication quoted Álmos Becsky, Technical Area Manager of STRABAG. The specialist said,

Due to the special production conditions in the paper industry, unique solutions had to be chosen at the design and, of course, construction stage. For example, the choice of materials and surface protection for reinforced concrete and metal structures was an important task, the high heat and humidity loads in the internal production area, noise and vibration protection, and resistance to chemicals required special solutions and nodes.

A special foundation was built under the paper machine, where a machine platform supported on pile foundations was installed. The construction progressed in parallel with the technological installations, which made the construction extremely challenging and required a coordinated workflow with the project partners. "ÉVOSZ's justification for the award was based on the exceptionally high professional standard of the building's construction work," he recalled. 

The investment tripled the company's base paper production capacity

Attila Vajda, Managing Director of Vajda-Papír, explained in the statement that the annual production of base paper at the new mill reached 115 thousand tonnes this year, the machine is operating at full capacity, 80 percent of the produced base paper is used in the own plant, 20 percent is exported.   

The group has been producing the hygiene base paper needed for manufacturing at its Dunaföldvár plant since 2018, but with production ramping up, it was necessary to increase capacity. Last year's investment tripled the company's existing base paper production capacity, with a HUF 16 billion development funded by the Hungarian government to the tune of HUF 5.5 billion. The development has created Europe's largest hygiene paper production capacity in Dunaföldvár, and has enabled the group to produce all its base paper needs in its own plant and even strengthen its position in foreign markets, Attila Vajda said in the statement. He noted that the investment was also financed by issuing green bonds worth HUF 9.9 billion.
