Reinforcing steel can be produced in as little as one day

As a Hungarian-owned construction company, the main activity of Épszerk-Pannónia Invest Kft. is the execution of monolithic reinforced concrete structural works, in which they have one of the largest capacities in the country. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, they have demonstrated their expertise in almost all areas of construction, supported by their own manufacturing capacity for decades.

The company has three production plants, of which the one in Ercsi is responsible for the production of precast reinforced concrete elements, the Alsónémedi plant is responsible for the production of the more modern reinforcing steel mesh, while the one in Fertő Street in the capital is responsible for the processing of reinforcing steel. Tóth Tibor, the plant manager of the reinforcing steel processing plant ÉPI (Épszerk-Pannónia Invest Építőipari Kft.), gave us details about the operation of the Fertő Street unit on the occasion of its renovation.

Spectacular volumes

Although the Fertő Street site mainly processes the quantities of reinforcing steel required for ÉPI's own structural works, as previously reported, following the upgrades to the machinery, it now has sufficient capacity not only for its own use but also for the production of orders from external partners: the permanent staff of 15 physical workers and three technicians can produce up to 1,500-2,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel per month.

Their reinforcing steel prefabrication plant is a 2500 m² covered hall, where they use the proven MEP automatic reinforcing steel cutting and bending machines. The hall building is equipped with three reinforcing steel cutting machines, a double bending machine, three stirrup machines, a pile making machine and five additional bending machines for the production of pre-cast reinforcing steel in diameters from 8 to 40 mm. The unit also includes a 1,000 m² external warehouse with a continuous monthly stock of 2,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel.

From paper to steel

"The production of bent reinforcing steel starts with the processing of the received static plans in our office, where my two colleagues, architect Tímea Varga-Tóth and Nikolett Bálint follow the processes until the delivery" - said the plant manager.

Depending on the demand they receive, they can help their customers in a number of ways, including

• in determining the reinforcing steel requirements based on structural designs;
• in the production of the necessary cut and bend reinforcing steel for a specific period of time;
• bundling and marking of positions manufactured according to the static design or
• the delivery of bundled and marked reinforcing steel to the place of use at a time agreed with the customer.

Of course, the plant is also capable of producing custom structural steels, for which a dedicated locksmithing department is maintained. Wall fastening zips, fasteners, reinforcement nodes or structural elements made to order can also be produced by our specialists. Nevertheless, the aim is to minimise waste during production and to reuse any steel left over.

Faster production, more pleasant environment

The development of the plant started at the end of July 2021. Thanks to the newly completed renovation, their colleagues can now work in a modern environment with insulated sandwich panel cladding, significantly improving the comfort of the factory. And since the new bridge sections were installed, the production process has become much faster.

With good organisation, they can undertake production within 1-2 days,

which is not negligible in the current market. The company remains committed to speed and quality, and its success is also due to the attitude of its well-trained and flexible physical workers.
