Design meets function - stylish air conditioning solutions in the renewed VakVarjú Restaurant in New Buda
After nearly nine months, the "closed" sign was finally removed from the entrance to the popular VakVarjú Restaurant in Újbuda in February. As we we previously reported, the restaurant, which exudes a suburban atmosphere, was modernised under the Horváth Építőmester Zrt. (HÉP) project, the restaurant, which exudes a suburban atmosphere, has been modernised, and a 414-square-metre steel-framed, flat-roofed extension has been added to the building, which dates from the early 1900s. Thanks to the extension, the restaurant can now accommodate nearly twice as many guests as before.
During the project, the building services were also modernised, including the installation of a new ventilation system. The contractor Climate-Max Kft., who carried out the work, selected the fans, dampers and controls for the guest area, kitchen and back office areas from a wide range of Lindab products, with a focus on both functionality and design.
Air ventilation in the guest room and odour extraction in the kitchen are key
In the case of a restaurant, the professional design of the air conditioning system is as important as the menu, and is a key factor in the guest experience. The restaurant's dining area is supplied with air handling units to ensure clean, fresh, dust-free air at the right temperature. While the kitchen is exhausted by an extractor unit to remove hot, humid greasy air and odours, the system must also ensure that the room is adequately ventilated.
The contractor installed a Lindab PKY ventilation front panel. This disc-shaped Lindab product is used in places where air needs to be extracted above a suspended ceiling and a sufficient free cross-section is required for the air to pass through.

In addition to functioning perfectly, the visible elements of the ventilation system must also fit into the interior of the guest area. Thanks to their stylish design, the Lindab diffusers blend in perfectly with the VakVarjú Restaurant's interior, which combines the bourgeois atmosphere of the last century with modernity through its coverings and hidden lights. Thanks to their technological solution, the diffusers deliver fresh air into the room without creating draughts.
Among other things, the restaurant's dining area features a circular Lindab NC 19 model with individually adjustable nozzles. The product type is available in several colours, in round and square designs, offering alternatives for interior design. In addition to individual adjustability, the advantages of the device include low noise levels and the fact that it is also suitable for horizontal cooling air supply. This means that the product provides excellent airflow in the room, which increases guest comfort. In the case of vertical airflow, it transfers warm air into the room.
The VakVarjú Restaurant ventilation system includes an aluminium air deflector, available in any colour Lindab LTD slot diffuser . The specialists installed slot diffusers with minimal noise levels and adjustable airflow direction . A special corner model was also installed to match the restaurant's interior. The contractor installed a Lindab CRL circular anemostat in the back office areas of the restaurant, which can be used for both supply and exhaust. By varying the direction of the blown air - vertical and horizontal - the user can supply hot and cold air to the room.
Quality acoustics increase comfort
The products of Lindab Acousticsproducts are highly regarded in the industry, as product development is based on precise calculations measured in the company's own acoustic laboratory using state-of-the-art technologies. This enables them to assist designers and contractors with high-quality acoustic solutions to create the quietest possible ventilation systems. In the VakVarjú Restaurant, SLU sound attenuators were installed in front of 160 mm diameter terminal elements.
Regulators to ensure sufficient fresh air in the rooms
The VakVarjú restaurant ductwork also incorporates rectangular and circular controls to ensure that there is sufficient fresh air in the building. The system is reliably and efficiently operated by a CAR check valve made of galvanized steel housing, which automatically shuts off the valve when the fan stops. The Lindab Safe circular air duct system comes with a wide range of accessories and Eurovent certification for high quality. DRU and DTBU controllers were used in the project. The 0-90 degree adjustable valve plate of the former model is designed to minimize noise. In addition, the regulator, developed without perforation, is designed to be difficult to contaminate.
Software support at the design stage
In addition to consultations and technical advice, designers can also use the LindQST software to assist them in designing ventilation systems with the Lindab. In addition to calculations, the programme uses the Indoor Climate Designer to display the selected solution in space, i.e. in 3D, with a number of functions.
