The Lindab's fire protection solutions provide excellent security even in large spaces.

Székesfehérvár's new multifunctional event and sports hall opened its doors this spring. The Alba Arena was built on behalf of the Székesfehérvár City Council, in the Market Építő Zrt., and is capable of hosting up to 20-25 indoor sports. With a net floor area of almost 22,000 square metres, the facility can accommodate around 6,000 people for ice hockey matches and up to 8,000 for concerts and other events.

The Alba Arena can serve as a venue for almost any sporting or professional event, and is also the home of the Székesfehérvár hockey team, the Hydro Fehérvár AV19 ice hockey team, which is competing in the CHL.

The design and implementation of the building's ventilation and fire protection system was an unusual task, as the ice-based track, which also complies with international standards, had unique requirements in terms of size, functionality and technical parameters, which presented exciting challenges. The design of the air handling systems was carried out by Mangel Épületgépészeti Iroda under the leadership of Zoard Mangel.

For public buildings hosting events with a large number of participants, ensuring the highest level of fire protection is crucial, and this was also an important consideration in the design and construction of the Alba Arena's ventilation system. The solutions used therefore also required the installation of fire protection equipment of the highest quality and technical standard. The air handling systems were implemented by Ensi Kft. with Lindab fire protection solutions, which are highly adaptable to the specific needs of the building.

Quality heat and smoke ventilation for increased safety

This is why the experts chose the Lindab heat and smoke extraction system. The Lindab fire protection solutions are available as a complete system, providing the most appropriate protection in the event of a fire. Mechanical heat and smoke extraction minimises the spread of fire and limits the spread of smoke. Not only does it ensure effective firefighting, but it also keeps exits and escape routes smoke-free, allowing people to quickly reach a safe place.

A significant part of the Alba Arena's heat and smoke extraction system was implemented using high-quality Lindab products.

In the production of oversized duct elements, Lindab offers a unique quality solution on the domestic market. The larger elements are manufactured using special production technology and excellent Swedish steel materials, in the company's Biatorbágy plant. The special external angle iron and internal bar reinforcement used supports the highest possible safety. The project used rectangular elements with a cross-section of 1900*1700mm, the production and installation of which proved to be a spectacle, as the larger elements were craned into the building from the roof.

The products are CE certifiedto the Union-wide safety, health and environmental standards, an essential benchmark as reliability is crucial for heat and smoke ventilation systems. This is necessary to guarantee their stability and safety at high temperatures (600°C). All components of the Lindab system are CE certified according to EU Directive 89/106/CEE and tested according to EN 12101-7 and EN 1366-9. Lindab fire protection solutions are available as a complete system with a wide range of accessories.

Large inlets for functionality and comfort

For better indoor comfort, air diffusers help to ensure that the rooms in buildings have the right amount and quality of fresh air. The appropriate type is always selected depending on the nature and specific requirements of the building and rooms.

During the construction of the Alba Arena, high-quality, widely used in stadiums, high-rotation Lindab air blowers were installed in the arena space.

The RCW rotary diffuser is a particularly good choice for facilities with high ceilings. Its blades are adjustable, allowing the direction of the airflow to be changed from horizontal to vertical.

For the offices and smaller rooms in the building, the designers chose the RS14 square rotary anemostat with fixed blades, which can be used for both supply and extract, providing fresh air in these rooms.

Together, the installed devices are an important guarantor of good indoor air quality and thus of good indoor comfort. The Lindab blowers are also unique because they are made of high quality galvanised steel with a sintered surface. This gives the front panels double surface protection, providing a more durable solution.

Fast, on-time delivery was of paramount importance during the project, as the construction was carried out according to a well-established schedule. This is also an advantage when using domestically manufactured Lindab products.
