From Friday, the Megyeri Bridge will once again be illuminated with festive decorations, becoming the country's tallest Christmas tree for the fourth time.

The attraction will be located on the Pest county M0 motorway between Dunakeszi and Budakalász, from 20 to 26 December, every day from dusk until dawn.

Magic over the river

As in previous years, a special green foil on all the lighting equipment and light sources on the bridge, except for the street lighting, will transform both piers of the bridge into a 100-metre high Christmas tree, glowing green.

Star-shaped finials will be placed on top of the pylons on both the Buda and Pest sides with the help of robotic lamps. Special decorative lights will also be placed in the central glass section of the pylons, according to a statement by Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt..

Let's focus on safe transport

Once again this year, the experts have reminded everyone to stay in the emergency lane if they want to get a closer look at the festive lights.

Those who want to take photos should not do so while driving, but instead approach the bridge from the main road 2. You can also reach the site safely on foot or even by bicycle via the section under the Pest side of the bridge.

The Road Administration also urges pedestrians to cross the bridge with caution, paying attention to other road users and keeping a safe following distance. The traffic and the correct use of the lane will be regularly monitored by the road manager's staff," the statement said.
