Non-refundable state aid from the Rural Home Renovation Programme can be applied for at the Hungarian State Treasury until 30 June 2026.

Families living in settlements with less than 5,000 inhabitants will be helped to improve their housing conditions by a new home renovation programme under the Rural Home Building Programme, which can be applied for at the Hungarian State Treasury.

Half of the costs are now covered by the state

According to the announcement, the maximum allowance of HUF 3 million can cover up to half of the costs, so the other half must be covered by the applicant's own resources. The funding can be used for invoices and contractor contracts after 1 January, within 60 days of the completion of renovations to the home and payment of the last invoice, it said. The deadline to apply is 30 June 2026.

Support is available for a wide range of home renovation works

Among others

  • renovation of interiors,
  • heating modernisation,
  • roof replacement,
  • installation and replacement of air conditioning, solar collectors and solar panel systems,
  • accessibility,
  • building electrical systems and
  • help with the environment around the house.

Ownership of 50% is also a condition

The subsidy can be claimed if the applicant and his/her minor child or parent jointly own at least 50 percent of the apartment, if all the persons concerned have a registered address in the renovated apartment at the time of application, and if there are no public debts exceeding HUF 5,000. The aid is linked to a 5-year residence obligation, with the exceptions provided for by law, they added.
