Commitment to society, our environment - Two more professional awards for the ROM Vándor programme
The PPH Media has once again rewarded projects and innovative solutions from companies and organisations with a positive social and environmental impact. The jury shortlisted 18 entries and selected the winners.
A novel idea in value saving
The Market Építő Zrt. ROM Vándor programme won the category winner award among value-adding and value-transferring projects, in addition to the Special Award for Innovative Approach at the DoingGood-CSR Award competition. The ROM Vándor programme is an exemplary initiative by a renowned construction company, which protects, represents and promotes our Árpád-era sacred ruins as a kind of movement.
So far, more than 100 abandoned medieval ruins have been mapped. With the help of renowned experts, Market Építő Zrt. restores 2-3 ruins a year, with all the related tasks being carried out with the voluntary participation of the company's staff.
Two church ruins were restored last year through voluntary work
Under the ROM Vándor Programme, the following has been achieved so far: the Töki Romanesque church ruins in the Zsámbék Basin, the Kövesd Church Ruins and its surroundings, near Tatabánya, hidden along the national Blue Trail route, the 800-year-old Csákányospuszta church ruins and the Varjaskéri deserted church in Somogy County.
Keeping the "timeless" atmosphere
The primary aim of the initiative, according to the programme website, is to preserve the authentic, natural beauty of the ruins. The interventions will help to preserve, safely view and interpret in a low-key way, while preserving and enhancing the 'timeless' atmosphere of the ruins.
The ROM Vándor has won several professional awards
In 2024, the ROM Vándor programme was awarded the ICOMOS Hungarian National Committee's "Exemplary Monument Care" award and the Media Architecture Award "Built Environment" award. The list of professional awards has been further extended, with the 2025 DoingGood CSR Award for "Value Saving, Value Transfer" and the Special Award for "Innovative Approach".
