Four-lane motorway from Debrecen to Nyíregyháza - the search for a designer is on

We are one step closer to a long-awaited and particularly significant development in the expressway network of Eastern Hungary. The EU public procurement notice has been published by the Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium tender for the preparation of a licence and implementation plan for the creation of a 2×2 lane road connection between Debrecen and Nyíregyháza, partly on a new route. The project was announced as a conditional public procurement.

As stated in the document, the aim of the investment is to create a high-capacity, safe road connection between the economic zones of Nyíregyháza and Debrecen. They indicate that, as a first step in the preparatory process, the preliminary design and environmental impact study for the route have already been completed, and the authorities have also issued the environmental permit. According to the ministry's investment website, the project has so far been assigned the numbers Unitef’ 83 Zrt. and Tura-Terv Kft. and Via Futura Kft..

In the newly published public tender, the permit and design will be for the construction of a 2×2 lane road link of about 35 km of continuous length, of which 10 km will be on existing track and 25 km on new track.

Bridges, roundabouts to be built

The section affected by the development will run from the junction of the main road 354 - Debrecen eastern bypass to the junction of the main road 4 - M3 motorway,

• designed with 6 separate level nodes and associated sub-nodes,
• and 3 two-lane roundabouts,
• with 19 artificial discs according to the parameters of a 2×2 lane suburban primary road,
• by replacing all the utilities concerned
• and obtain the necessary permits.

New engineering site, preparation of several kilometres of link road

The winner will have to design the documentation for the reinforcement and widening of the section (200 m) between the junction of the main road No 4/Oláhrét street and the railway crossing at the section 2606+63 hm of the railway line No 100.

Part of the request is the preparation of a preliminary environmental assessment document for the new road link between Highway 4 and the 49101 j. road at Hajdúhadház and the obtaining of the related decision. The route is expected to run for 3,200 m here. ÉKM reserves the right to exercise the option to draw up the permit and construction plans for this section and to carry out the design engineering works.

The project will also include the construction of a complex engineering site in Debrecen, with a 1500 m2 office building, a 1500 m2 workshop and a 1500 m2 salt storage facility.
