Technology change can also reduce operating costs

The textile printing workshop in Váchartyán has been producing and screen printing textile garments since 1992. Initially, the company mainly produced children's clothes with colour film prints, which were later supplemented with adult fashion, workwear and promotional products. Their importance is demonstrated by the fact that they have had the opportunity to sell their products under their own brand and in multinational chain stores.

Their manufacturing plant, where they also do cutting, sewing and screen printing, was in need of energy renovation, and they found an excellent partner for this in Cemix.

As we learned from Miklós Teke, owner of Gas-Trade Kft., the upgrade was carried out in two phases, with the aim of significantly improving the building's energy consumption and the company's energy balance. The refurbishment has made the company significantly less exposed to energy market price fluctuations and their operating costs have become much more stable. In addition, the modernisation has enabled them to offer their staff a better and more modern working environment.

Complex renovation started

In the first phase, half of the old single glazed windows were replaced with modern plastic windows, and in the second phase, in addition to the replacement of the other windows, the façade was insulated with 16 cm grey EPS (0.03 W/m2K) insulation. Cemix products were used for bonding, finishing and colouring.

A complete renovation of the uninsulated slab, which is just able to perform its waterproofing function, was also completed, where in addition to PVC waterproofing, the experts also applied 20 cm of EPS insulation. The other pillar of the energy renovation was the installation of a 41 kWp solar panel system, which was sized to take into account the negative impact of the shading of the surrounding trees.

Thermal insulation for efficiency

Façade thermal insulation is a complex system, requiring considerable expertise to design and install. When choosing the right solution, the investor must take into account a number of factors. That's why, according to Miklós Teke, they chose Cemix thermal insulation products, which have received a lot of positive feedback: contractors have highlighted, among other things, that it is easy to work with in winter and summer, easy to colour and prevents mould.

"We always wanted to use a product from a manufacturer that stands for high quality," the owner stressed. "We received a lot of help in choosing the product and the ordering process was smooth. During the construction, the company's expert visited us several times and gave us and our construction crew all the support we needed."

Precise preparation pays off

Gábor Elsholtz, regional project manager for Cemix Hungary Kft., gave our newspaper the details. According to him, the Thermo System facade and plinth thermal insulation system was chosen to insulate the 800-square-metre building, of which 440 square metres were modernised by the client using grant funding.

- added Gábor Elsholtz, drawing attention to the fact that the final result shows that the client took maximum account of the recommendations of Cemix during the preparation, and designed the additional elements (tin fittings, windows, plinth, colour selection, etc.) essential for the façade thermal insulation in accordance with them.

"In any case," summarised Miklós Teke, "we have already experienced that the waste heat from our new technology is sufficient to reach a temperature of 10 °C without heating, so the gas consumption of the building has already been reduced by 74%." The company also uses a large proportion of electricity for production, which they hope will be able to generate three quarters of their consumption locally.
