The bridge in the Nógrád village was demolished in January, and in March the foundations of the new bridge will be laid  

A number of works – bridge construction, canal and road building, and landscaping – are currently underway as part of the complex development project linked to Main Road 23 in the Bátonyterenye area. In Nógrád County, as part of the Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium project, the Colas Út Zrt. and HE-DO projects, a major transport development project is scheduled to be implemented this year as planned. Now, the Colas Based on Facebook’s post, we can provide some new information about the project.

First a road, then a bridge

The construction of the Highway 23 development project started in April 2022. In the first phase, the construction of the new Bátonyterenye-Kisterenye bypass of the main road No 23 and the related improvements were carried out.

In December 2023, the 2.3-kilometre, 2×1 lane bypass of Bátonyterenye within the crown road was opened. The development provided a direct link between Kisterenye and Nagybátony, as well as a 2.19-kilometre, 2×1-lane north-south link road to the Nógrád county town.

The temporary opening of this road was a prerequisite for the other phases of the project to start.

Streams and railway cross the road

The route of the road crosses the Zagyva stream in three places, the Kazár stream in two places, the Tarján stream in one place, the railway in three places, and the construction of crossings and crossings is also included in the tasks. Accordingly, the contractors' tasks include, among others, the construction of 8 structures and 2 new level crossings, as well as 392 metres of paved roads and 215 metres of cycle paths.

The third element of the project is the construction of the Bátonyterenye crossing. A consortium of Colas Út Zrt. and HE-DO has undertaken the work, in addition to the 2.256 km of upgrading of the existing Highway 23. The works continued on 8 January with the demolition of the bridge in Kisterenye, between Zrínyi, Erzsébet and Piac streets. The reconstruction of the crossing over the Tarján stream is being carried out with the complete closure of the road and the provision of a bypass.

Currently, the bridge abutments are being flattened, in parallel with the concreting of the ascending and wing walls. Meanwhile, embankment works are underway in the vicinity of the bridge structure. In addition, the construction of the road and storm sewers is progressing as planned.

Intensive work is also underway along the bypass

Work is still ongoing on the section of the Bátonyterenye-Kisterenye bypass outside the crown, where the contractor's staff are working on landscaping, the construction of debris traps, sand traps and ditch paving.
