Children's dreams can come true at Lake Balaton - The new kindergarten resembles a castle built from giant building blocks

For years, plans have been underway to rebuild the Kiserdei Kindergarten in Balatonfüred, which currently has 90 places and is operating at full capacity. The plans for the new facility, with a total floor area of 763 square metres, were drawn up by the Teampanon architectural office and approved last year by the municipality's local development committee.

Spaces tailored to the needs of children

EU funding will allow construction to start. The contractor will have to demolish the existing 420 square metres net floor area of the ground floor nursery. The new facility will have almost double the floor area of its predecessor, with 402 square metres on the ground floor and 361 square metres on the first floor for the kindergarten and its teachers.

In the rebuilt Kiserdei Kindergarten building

• 4 group rooms of 50 square metres,
• 2 changing rooms of 28 square metres,
• 2 children's toilets of 23 square metres,
• 3 offices, totalling 60 square metres.

Development room for children

In addition to the above, there will be a 70 square metre community space, a 50 square metre gallery and a 58 square metre gym for children. For larger events, the lobby will be connected to the gym.

The contractor must also provide a development room, a warming kitchen, storage and other service facilities. The building will also have an elevator and will be fully accessible.

Huge green space and roof garden to tempt children to play

The building is constructed with reinforced concrete beams and monolithic reinforced concrete masonry. The 644 square metre flat roof will be constructed with an inverted layering system, with almost 180 square metres of green roof. It will also house the solar panel system. The heat pump heating and cooling will be provided by a surface grid embedded in the ceiling plaster.

The building's surroundings will also be tidied up during the construction. Toy stores, street furniture and 12 garden toys will be placed in the courtyard, which will be surrounded by a fence. Of the outdoor spaces, nearly 360 square metres will be covered with concrete and 500 square metres with rubber. The grassed and planted area will cover 1,000 square metres. The contractor's tasks include the construction of a barrier-free parking area, rainwater storage and utility connections.
