Nearly 18 kilometres of roads to be renewed in Zemplén

At the end of August, specialists from Colas Út Zrt. began work on two sections of the deteriorated transport corridor. On behalf of Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt., they are renovating a total of 17.824 kilometres of track between Pálháza-Hollóháza and Hollóháza-Kéked.

Development will also boost tourism in the uplands

The project will make everyday life easier for the inhabitants of three settlements - Filkeháza, Hollóháza and Kéked - and will also make it easier for tourists visiting the area to explore the northern part of Zemplén, including the mysterious Füzér Castle.

Two new layers on 9585 metres of road

On the 9585 metres between Pálháza and Hollóháza, after the profile milling, a levelling and wearing course will be prepared - informed Sándor Sziráki. The engineer of the Colas Út Zrt. job site said that the asphalt layer in poor condition was removed with a milling machine. The work process prepares the way for the repair of longitudinal and transverse irregularities, the levelling layer and then the application of a new wearing course of constant thickness. The section of road affected by the works will also be paved with an embankment and a paved bump-out area. The works will include the partial reconstruction of three bridges over intermittent watercourses.

Local track structure replacement between Hollóháza and Kéked

On the 8239-metre section of the 3719 main road between Hollóháza and Kéked, work is also in full swing. The existing wearing course has been grinded down and a levelling and new wearing course will be laid. On this section of the road, some 4,600 square metres of track structure also need to be replaced. The works will include the demolition of a stormwater reservoir culvert and the replacement of it with a 13 m long 1.5 x 1.15 m diameter frame element. The project includes the construction of embankments and the installation of traffic engineering elements.

21,600 tonnes of asphalt used over nearly 18 kilometres

For the section between Pálháza and Hollóháza, Sándor Sziráki said, 11,319.05 tonnes of asphalt will be processed and transported from the asphalt mixing plant in Felsőzsolca to the work site. On the site between Hollóháza and Kéked, 10 288.8 tonnes of asphalt will be used to resurface the road. Part of the asphalt produced during the project was transported to the Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. Engineering Plant in Sátoraljaújhely, where nearly 641 cubic metres were laid under the recycled asphalt.
The works will be completed in April, until then, traffic will be
restricted to half lanes and traffic lights will be in place at the two project sites. During the asphalting work, a signal guard will assist motorists.
