New production hall and logistics centre of Swiss instrument manufacturer inaugurated in Debrecen

The second Debrecen production unit and the new transport centre of the Sensirion Hungary Kft. in Debrecen have been completed, with a build-to-suit investment of approximately HUF 4.5 billion by WX Sharing Kft., jointly owned by the SZINORG Group and the XANGA Group, the company informed MTI. The investment was officially handed over on the afternoon of 9 April.

The seven thousand square metre expansion of the Swiss-based company's Hungarian subsidiary consists of two main units:

• in the first phase, a logistics centre of one thousand six hundred square metres, consisting of two warehouses,
• while in the second phase, the five thousand square metre, two-storey production hall was completed.

Green technology and energy efficiency

The latter will also have three to three production areas, logistics and social rooms, offices, meeting rooms, a 330 square metre auditorium (SensiAcademy) and a rooftop café with panoramic views. The new buildings will be fully integrated into the sustainability scheme of Sensirion: fossil energy-free operation, geothermal heating-cooling, heat recovery and solar PV systems will ensure energy efficiency, they said.

They added that the roof structure was designed to accommodate a solar panel system over its entire surface, enabling the company to generate a quarter of its energy needs locally.

Debrecen has become the strategic centre for Sensirion

At the project's groundbreaking ceremony, a company representative previously stated: „We need a building, and what's more, a hi-tech building, which we are creating in collaboration with HUNÉP Zrt..” HUNÉP, based in Debrecen and playing a key role in the regional construction market, established the first local factory for Sensirion.

Franziska Brem, Vice President of Operations of Sensirion AG, said at the handover ceremony that their Debrecen-based unit has now become a strategic hub. "Our future goal is to continue to grow sustainably, innovatively and collaboratively," the vice president added.

From health to the automotive industry

László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen said that the inauguration of the second Sensirion plant goes beyond the physical realization of an investment: it is a celebration of faith in the future, cooperation and trust. "The investment is exemplary not only from a technological but also from a sustainability point of view, and will strengthen Debrecen's role in the international technology supply chain," the mayor stressed. The Sensirion Hungary Kft. product range has a very high added value, with sensors used in a wide range of applications from healthcare to automotive. The Sensirion sensors can be used to accurately and reliably measure a wide range of environmental parameters and flow rates.
