One of the country's largest infrastructure investments continues in Nyíregyháza
The results of the procedure concerning the expansion and infrastructure development of the Nyíregyháza Industrial Park have been published in the EU Public Procurement Bulletin . The total value of the three-part investment is nearly HUF 62 billion.
We have previously written about this, stating that the current Phase II consists of three parts:
- improving the general infrastructure of the industrial park.
- development of the public utility yard and sewage treatment plant,
- water utility transmission lines and waterworks upgrades, and
Development of general infrastructure in industrial parks
An important element of the investment is the development of the industrial park's general infrastructure, which involves the comprehensive renewal of transport and service systems. A new internal road network, roundabouts, connecting roads and cycle paths will be built, providing direct links to the M3 motorway and surrounding settlements.
In connection with transport developments, railway crossings will be renovated and bus stops and service roads will be built. The investment includes the construction of a complete public utility network: drinking water, sewage, grey water, electricity, gas and telecommunications systems will be installed. Public lighting, a camera system and water management, including the construction of storm water reservoirs and drains, will play a key role. At the end of the developments, significant landscaping will also take place, with the planting of thousands of trees and shrubs.
The development of the general infrastructure in Phase II is implemented by the „KE-VÍZ 21” zRt. and ZEMPLÉNKŐ Kft. will be implemented in phase II, while KE-VÍZ will also participate in the development of water utility transmission lines and waterworks, as it did in the planning and implementation of phase I.
The first phase of the industrial park was handed over in January 2026, as reported by our newspaper.
Development of public utility yard and sewage treatment plant
One element of the investment is the construction of a new, high-capacity sewage treatment plant, which will be able to handle the increasing sewage load of the industrial park. The facility is capable of treating 7,000 cubic metres of sewage per day, from where the treated water is discharged into the Simai main stream.
As part of the development, a new sewage pumping station, as well as reservoirs and pressure boosters for greywater utilisation, will also be built. An operations centre will be established in the utility yard, while the regulation of surrounding watercourses and the installation of monitoring systems will enhance environmental safety.
The winners of the public utility yard and sewage treatment plant development are Mészáros és Mészáros Zrt. and Belfry PE Kft..
Water utility transmission lines and waterworks developments
The second part of the project involves the construction of a pipeline network to supply drinking water and sewage services to the industrial park. New drinking water, treated sewage and grey water pipelines will be built over a distance of more than 11 kilometres, creating a direct connection to the municipal waterworks.
Capacity expansions are being implemented at the Tó utca, Paszabi and Nyírtelek waterworks, with the installation of new technological elements and solar power plants.
The winners of this development section are Mészáros és Mészáros Zrt. and „KE-VÍZ 21” zRt., as independent bidders.
