According to plans, pedestrians and cyclists will be able to use the new bridge over the M7 motorway near Lake Velence as early as this spring.
Finishing touches are being made
In the coming days, MKIF employees will carry out electrical installation work on the bridge lighting and cover the slope cone, after which – provided that the temperature conditions specified in the technical specifications are met – the protective coating against salt corrosion will be applied to the track slab.
As they write: the landscaping around the bridge is also ongoing. New street furniture will be installed and vegetation will be planted in the coming months. Following the test load planned for February, the technical handover of the bridge can begin, followed by its opening to traffic.
Traffic is only disrupted on short sections
In the vicinity of the bridge, traffic restrictions are only to be expected on the side of the M7 motorway leading towards Lake Balaton, where a speed limit is currently in force on a short section.
Demolition of the old bridge will only begin after the new bridge is opened to traffic, which is expected to be in May.
