What is being built?
A new health centre has been built in Cegléd on the site of the old buildings
As part of the project, the dilapidated buildings located at the western end of the Törteli út site of the Cegléd Hospital were demolished to make way for a barrier-free, four-storey complex with a total net floor area of 2,535 square metres, according to the ÉKM announcement.
A state-of-the-art gym and refurbished clinics await patients
The building, completed as part of the Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium project and constructed by DENCO under contract Kft., houses the pulmonary care unit with its own separate entrance, the gym and the physiotherapy treatment rooms on the ground floor. The upper floors house a wide range of specialist departments – including cardiology, oncology, gynaecology, urology and psychiatry – as well as administrative and support functions.
The surroundings of the clinic have also been refurbished
The project was not limited to the building itself: as part of the landscaping works, 133 new or refurbished parking spaces were created, a new road junction and a transformer station were built, and the green spaces and footpaths were also refurbished. The total gross cost of the project amounted to 5,055,830,576 forints, which includes design, construction, utility development and equipment procurement.
The role of architecture in healing
Gergely Gulyás, Minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office, and Regő Lánszki, State Secretary for Architecture, were present at the event and gave welcoming speeches. In his speech, the latter highlighted the impact of architecture on people’s lives. He said: „The quality of a country can also be measured by the kind of spaces it creates for its citizens. In a hospital, architecture is part of the healing process, contributing in its own way to recovery, a fact already confirmed by research.”
