Construction of a new nursery with eight classrooms is set to begin in Budakeszi. Bamax Work has been awarded the contract to build the CLT-constructed building.

Among the towns in the immediate metropolitan area, Budakeszi has experienced only a modest increase in population; nevertheless, the influx of young families is generating an ever-growing demand for nursery places. In response to this, the local council has decided to develop and expand the Szivárvány nursery, which is currently situated on the plot between Fő Street and Hársfa Street and is adjacent to it.

In the first phase, a new nursery wing comprising eight group rooms may be built as an extension to the existing nursery; the contract for the construction work was awarded to Bamax Work Kft. with a bid of approximately 660 million. In the subsequent second phase, the existing building will be modernised and its functions adapted to the new nursery structure.

Large-format panels are speeding up construction

The local council had already opted for CLT technology for the construction of the specialist clinic, and it appears they have had a positive experience with it: their new nursery school building may also be constructed from cross-laminated timber. On the large plot, measuring 6,987 m2, a building just 3.2 metres high and with a floor area of 784 m2 will be erected, meaning it will be set back from the main road, hidden amongst the surrounding trees.

It is being built with exposed timber framing

The ground-floor walls and the floor slab above the ground floor are to be constructed using large-format wall panels approximately 12 cm thick, in order to ensure rapid construction and cost-effectiveness. A total of almost 3,600 m2 of wall panels will be required.

Thanks to the large-panel construction, the interior walls can feature exposed timber framing in most areas.

The building’s heating and cooling requirements will be met by an air-source heat pump system; its heat demand, based on the heat requirement calculation, is 55.274 kW. The building will be fitted with central underfloor heating and fan-coil cooling.

During construction, every effort must be made to minimise noise pollution, as the existing nursery building will remain in use whilst the work is being carried out.
