The HE-DO is working on the modernisation of a busy road in Pestszentimre in the capital
HE-DO is renewing the deteriorated pavement of Nagykörösi út in the XVIII district of the capital, near the city border, between Eke utca and Dózsa György utca, the Hungarian road construction company said in a statement on its website. The company's specialists took over the work site from the contracting district municipality at the beginning of March.
The Nagykőrösi road is one of the arteries of Budapest's traffic: in addition to commuters from the agglomeration, it is also used daily by residents of the XVIII district.
Road users can still use the road during the renovation
On 8 March 2024, construction work started on the affected section with the construction of temporary traffic engineering, the profiling of the roadway and the dismantling and reconstruction of the local roadway structure replacements on the right-hand side.
"The right side of the road section was profiled, then the substructure was repaired locally, after which the kerbs will be replaced, the surface drainage elements will be renewed, and the gateways will be demolished and rebuilt with new grass pavement. The entire roadway will be reinforced with two layers of asphalt. The construction will be carried out on each side of the road with half-lane road closures and one-way traffic" - said Gellért Timár, chief architect of HE-DO.
The technical handover is scheduled to start at the end of May 2024 and the reconstructed road section will soon be open to two-way traffic.
