Comprehensive infrastructure development for Gerendás in the South-Eastern Great Plain

The municipality of Gerendás, a village in Békés county with barely a thousand inhabitants, has won almost HUF 200 million in EU funding for several developments. As the project's promoter Békéscsabai Városfejlesztési Nonprofit Kft. announces, the works were funded under the EU's Terrain and Urban Development Operational Programme (TOP) Plus

The project will include the resurfacing of more than 1.5 kilometres of three streets; a 20-space car park will be built next to the cemetery, and the bus stop will be renovated.

Playground, sports field, green area

In addition, the playground and sports field on Apponyi György Street will be reconstructed: the entire surface of the asphalt pitch will be renewed, new handball goals and ball catching nets will be installed, and the running track will be renewed. The playground will be equipped with a new play castle and a drinking fountain, and the green space will be renewed with 46 saplings and around half a hundred perennial flowers.

The project should be completed by the end of next year.
