The road construction project just started will improve transport in the Zalaegerszeg agglomeration

The local government of Zalaegerszeg conducted a public procurement procedure to develop the southern connecting road in the outskirts of the city, including the renovation of connecting secondary roads and the replacement of public utilities – our newspaper reported on this at the beginning of the year and last October. According to the data available in the state electronic public procurement database, Horváth-Ép Közmű- Út- és Mélyépítő Kft. was commissioned to carry out the investment.

We can now report that work has begun on the southern link road between Alsóerdő and Zalabesenyő, i.e. the renovation of Sugár Road (and, as part of the Modern Cities Programme, the connecting roads are also being modernised in a complex construction project, the details of which can be found in our previous articles). Journalists were informed about the development on 10 March at a municipal event in the Aranyoslapi car park, according to the county seat's website .

The event underlined:

in recent decades, this part of the town has seen a significant increase in motor traffic, and people from the south of the county and the suburbs also use this route to reach the factories or Zalabesenyő.

This was the reason for the investment, and the fact that over the years the structure and pavement of the road had deteriorated was also a major factor in the decision. In addition to the road repairs, the old, outdated drinking water mains in Zalabesenyö will also be replaced. In the area around the Aranyoslapi spring, a diversion system, i.e. frog passages, will be built, while new trees will be planted to replace the felled ones. The works are expected to be completed by the Zala-based Horváth-Ép at the end of August.

The project was preceded by consultations and forums on the ground, the document published by the municipality stresses, adding that the plans were drawn up taking into account the suggestions of the public and all the aspects that serve safety.
