The Szekszárd bypass will be built in three phases, and preparations are underway.

An engineering study is being prepared for the construction of the Szekszárd bypass, and the study plan and preliminary test documentation related to phases II and III are being prepared and approved by UNITEF’83 Technical Design and Development Zrt., TURA-Terv Engineering Office Kft., and Via Futura Engineering, Consulting and Service Kft., according to the information published on TED.

The new bypass road, commissioned by Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium, will be constructed in three phases. The first phase is already at an advanced stage of planning: starting from Keselyűsi Road, it will run from the dairy plant area to the OBI roundabout and will include a railway overpass and a stream bridge. The second and third sections continue eastwards towards Szőlőhegy, then connect to the road network leading to Decs and Őcsény. The new route thus creates a direct link to the M6 motorway and will also play an important role in the development concept for the M9 expressway, the article continues.

The aim of the project is to create a route approximately ten kilometres long, which will relieve the town centre of freight traffic as a new route for the A56 main road.

The designers' current task is to prepare and obtain approval for the study plan and preliminary investigation documentation for a 2×1 lane bypass road, which will include a grade-separated railway crossing on the existing 1.2-kilometre-long route and approximately 2.8 kilometres of new route.

In addition to the above, it is necessary to examine the possibilities of connecting secondary road No. 56 with access roads to the planned new route, taking into account local needs and characteristics.
