The main road leading to a key tourist destination in Bihar is being upgraded using cold recycling technology

Bihar County Council
Liontree Infrastructure and Imperial Pro Construct have begun work on upgrading the county road passing through Biharfüred.

As reported by the Bihar County Council on its own website, the renovation of county road 764A, which passes through Biharfüred (Stâna de Vale), has become a matter of urgency due to its extremely poor condition. Numerous uneven patches, potholes and deep cracks have made the road surface difficult to navigate, significantly hindering and complicating traffic flow. The project covers a 1,268-metre stretch of road running from the entrance to the town to the Miracle Spring (Izvorul Minunilor).

The road sub-base was rebuilt using cold recycling

Since 15 July, staff from Liontree Infrastructure Kft. have been working on reinforcing the road sub-base, whilst the asphalting work is being carried out by Imperial Pro Construct SRL. The project, costing approximately 98 million forints net, is being funded from the Bihar County Council’s budget.

For the first time, a rapid, on-site cold recycling technology is being used on a road in Bihar County, involving the refurbishment of the existing road base to a depth of 20 centimetres.

The essence of the process is that the old road surface is milled off, and the resulting material is then mixed with cement and special additives. Once this stage of the work is complete, a new 6-centimetre-thick layer of asphalt is laid.

Asphalting work on the main road began on 31 July

As soon as the specialists have finished laying the wearing course, they will complete the work by painting the road markings and installing the road signs, so that road users will soon be able to use the road again. The project will improve traffic conditions and road safety within the holiday resort, whilst the modernisation of the road will also make one of Bihar’s most significant mountain tourism areas more accessible – as the road provides a link between Belényes, Bondoraszó and Biharfüred, whilst the junction with county road 108J also facilitates access to the Lesi Lake holiday resort – Lesi Reservoir – Jádremete tourist area.
