Another important milestone on the M1: a new bridge was completed overnight near Biatorbágy
The expanding M1-es autópálya area in Biatorbágy has been in the spotlight several times this year: on the one hand, the first video the final structure of the extended motorway was first completed; on the other hand, the road tunnel connecting Biatorbágy and Páty also had to be widened.
Another key element is the new footbridge and cycle bridge being built in the vicinity of the Biatorbágy junction, the superstructure of which was hoisted into place during the night from Monday to Tuesday.
The investor, Magyra Concession Infrastructure Development Zrt. social media post also covers the preparatory work. According to this, over the past few weeks, the complete bridge was assembled on the pre-assembly site from several manufacturing units: this assembled bridge structure, fitted with a corrosion-protective coating, was hoisted into place in the early hours of this morning.
The new bridge is a three-span steel girder bridge weighing 60 tonnes, with four supports and two lateral arches, and a span of 29.80 metres between the two abutments. The bridge was lifted into place by a crane with a lifting capacity of 400 tonnes.
The next stage is expected to take place on 21 and 22 September: the bridge’s railings will also be installed at night on those dates. This will be carried out using a half-lane diversion to minimise disruption to traffic.
