Different challenges, common goal - these were the main themes of the transport conference
Between 16-18 April 2024, the XXIV Transport Development and Investment Conference was held in Bükfürdő, where VAMAV Kft., a manufacturer of railway superstructures, especially of siding, was once again present as a sponsor.
Rail development is essential for climate neutrality in 2050
The European Green Deal on global warming aims to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, which requires a comprehensive, sustainable and growing strategy that includes transport. As one of the most important national, professional events, the Transport Development and Investment Conference can make a significant contribution to achieving this goal.
"For our company, the presentations are relevant to railway operations, railway development and railway track structures. The development trends in the transport sector naturally have an impact on the operation of our company, so of course topics not specifically related to railways (e.g. public transport) are also of interest"
- says the company in a statement sent to us. They also point out that the uncertainties caused by the constantly changing international environment mean that it is not possible to give an exact answer to the most important current issues in Hungarian transport. Nevertheless, the conference was a valuable event, as the latest information was provided by qualified speakers and the participants were active representatives of companies working in the Hungarian public transport sector, so the audience was able to learn about the latest thoughts on the subject from the most authentic sources.
Broad consultation was possible
The main message of the conference is the need for sustainability, but the conference is also a place for professional discussions as one of the main forums for scientific and social cooperation between theoreticians and practitioners in the transport sector, which, in addition to increasing knowledge, provides an opportunity for transport professionals to meet, maintain and foster human relations.
The results of the round table discussion on the topic of "the situation of Hungarian transport and the possibilities for its development"
- Tibor Szilágyi Director-General for Development and Investment, MÁV Zrt.,
- Szilárd Kövesdi CEO, contributed with information on the current situation and tasks of GYSEV Zrt..
- Szilvia Mogyorósi the head of the Hungarian Railway Association HUNGRAIL, responsible for policy and international affairs, presented the international and domestic aspects of railway development and the legal environment, highlighting the difficulties of using the available but not yet paid EU funds (e.g. lack of capacity of designers and contractors, etc.) and the importance of preparation.
- Gábor Szőke CEO, Member of the Board of Directors, on behalf of MKIF, gave information on the legal status and tasks of Magyar Koncessziós Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Zrt. and the territorial coverage of the motorway network managed under the concession contract.
Each infrastructure operator is in a different position, has different capabilities and responsibilities, and therefore faces different challenges. The juxtaposition of heterogeneous circumstances and very different approaches was therefore thought-provoking, not only for the panellists, but for all participants at the conference.
