On the occasion of its thirty-year anniversary, the MAÚT has awarded prestigious prizes to road and rail construction professionals

In May, Magyar Út- és Vasútügyi Társaság held its annual general assembly. The meeting, organised in the FŐMTERV building, was welcomed by Sabolcs Nyiri, president of Magyar Út- és Vasútügyi Társaság, who then highlighted the importance of the initiative with a video message "Transport Culture Day 2024", according to a summary sent to our newspaper.

Several members of the association, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, returned home with awards from MAÚT in recognition of their outstanding work.

A total of five people took home the Golden Milestone and the Boldizsár Vásárhelyi Prize

<The Great Milestone award was given to Zsolt Thoroczkay, a chartered traffic engineer, chartered urban engineer and economist, who was recognised for his long-standing active work in the field of road infrastructure policy and his significant contribution to the widespread acceptance of the modern operating model of technical regulation. This prestigious award was presented to Kirilly Kálmán, a chartered transport engineer, in recognition of his many decades of engineering and management in the field of railway telecommunications and signalling equipment in the service of MÁV and MAÚT.

Boldizsár Básárhelyi Prize was awarded to Éva Máté, a civil engineer, in recognition of her decades of persistent and helpful work in the field of transport administration and authorities and her dedicated contribution to the technical regulation of road bridges. The same award was also given to Tamás Nádasdy, civil engineer and road safety auditor, in recognition of his dedicated work in the field of road infrastructure design and safety and the modernisation of technical standards, and to András Prudner, civil engineer, Engineer in railway construction and maintenance, chartered engineer, technical instructor in the field of railway operation, development, investment and training, in recognition of his dedicated work in the service of MÁV and the extensive operation of the renewed model of railway technical regulation.

Considerable attention has also been paid to early career engineers

Once again, prizes were awarded to young people who had achieved a Nemesdy Ervin Thesis Competition. First prize was awarded to those who presented their thesis in a presentation:

János Horváth (SZE) - Rail defects, with special reference to the impact of RCF defects on the rail track and its permeability, Katalin Kovács (SZE),- Lateral clearance for overtaking cyclists through foreign regulations and the study of the comfort level of cyclists, Levente Molnár (BME) - Rail track openings and the correlation between the condition of the track and traffic load.

Second prize was awarded to Márton Suga (BME), third prize to András Dávid Molnár (BME), Petra Valéria Papcsák (BME) and Beatrix Szuri (SZE).

Special prize was awarded to Réka Kövendi-Fülöp (SZE) and a commemorative plaque to Eszter Dani (SZE)

Anniversary celebrations and election of officials

After the award ceremonies and the high quality presentations, Dr. János Kerékgyártó, Deputy State Secretary for Transport (ÉKM) spoke about the current tasks of the transport authorities.

After the break, the audience was treated to a charming short film made at the MAÚT Founders' Meeting, in which some of the founding members send their best wishes to the organisation on the occasion of its 30th anniversary, followed by the President's report.

After the celebrations and a short break, voting began and twenty-six officers were elected by the members of MAÚT.

• Unanimous approval was given to the officers who will continue or take up their duties for the next term. Re-elected as President of MAÚT Szabolcs Nyiri, vice-president András Mayer, vice-president for roads Zoltán Lehel, vice-president for railways Balázs Suhajda.
• The Digital Information Management Committee Tamás Kis, the Legal Coordination Committee Dr. Judit Éva Siska. Chaired by the Environment Committee Zoltán Hegyi, chaired by the Research and Innovation Committee Zoltán Puchard they have been entrusted with.
• The Quality Committee Pál Fülöp, and the Training Committee Zoltán Pásztor is managed by.
• Head of the Road Committee Dr. Kálmán Ambrusand the Committee on Traffic Regulation and Safety Dr Tibor Mocsári was appointed.
• The Road Works Committee Gyula Kolozsi, the Municipal Roads Commission Mónika Németh, the Planning Committee Tamás Nádasdy, the NRC Coordination Committee Nándor Kolozsvári, the Operation and Maintenance Committee Szabolcs Szabados is managed by.
• Head of the Energy Supply Committee of the Railway Committees Miklós Kökényesi, and the e-VASUT Coordination Committee János Berente.
• Head of the Traffic Committee László Pósalaki, the Telecommunications and Security Equipment Committee Károly Gábor Takács, the Railway Rolling Stock Committee László Kiss, and the Rail Track and Works Committee Dr. Ferenc Horvát.
