A milestone on the road to sustainability: the first ESG report of EBH Invest is ready
EB HUNGARY INVEST Kft. has produced its first ESG report, which is not just a collection of sustainability data, but also a clear compass for the company's future.
The document presents the company's commitment to responsible, transparent and sustainable operations through the results for 2023. The preparation of this report is a clear indication that the company is not only focused on economic results, but also considers its responsibility towards the environment and society as a core value.
According to the company's management, the aim of the report is to show that sustainability is not just an expectation, but a conscious commitment that guides both their decisions and their processes.
The report is the first documented step in a comprehensive change of approach, which in the long term will involve all levels of the organisation. In doing so, the EBA not only aims to meet its clients' expectations, but also to become an active player in building a more liveable future.
Environment: green in practice
Reducing environmental pressures is one of the pillars of the ESG report. Recognising the significant ecological footprint of the construction industry, the company has taken concrete steps to reduce emissions and improve resource efficiency.
In 2023, the EB Hungary Invest Kft. emitted 2.85 tonnes of CO2 e per 1 employee. They are reducing their carbon footprint in a measurable and trackable way by renewing their vehicle fleet - by purchasing electric vehicles - and by introducing emissions measurement for Scope 1 and Scope 2. It is also important to continuously monitor their own energy use and to offer energy efficient and innovative solutions to their partners, such as the pumped energy storage system, which is being investigated in cooperation with the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) and offers a pioneering solution for carbon neutral energy supply.
The report also shows that progress has been made in waste management, for example by using recycled materials, replacing hazardous substances and designing for the environment, following the principles of the circular economy. In addition, the installation of green roofs and the organisation of projects to conserve biodiversity have become part of the practice.
The EBA has made it clear that sustainability is a corporate philosophy that, alongside innovation and quality, is increasingly driving their business decisions
Social responsibility: the power of the human factor
The report also goes into detail on employee well-being and corporate social responsibility.
According to EB Hungary Invest, their greatest value lies in their people, so it is not surprising that human resource development, supporting work-life balance and ensuring lifelong learning are a priority. In 2023, EBA provided a total of HUF 12 million in internal and external training for its employees. The use of digital tools and transparent internal communication help to increase employee satisfaction and engagement.
The company not only looks at the human factor in its internal operations, but also seeks to create value in the wider society. They encourage employees to volunteer for charitable initiatives, support children in need (e.g. through the Shoebox Campaign or sporting events) and, as a Dog-Friendly Workplace, animal welfare programmes, work with educational institutions and regularly participate in donation and sponsorship activities.
All these efforts are not just about maintaining a good corporate reputation - they are about making a real social impact in the long term, which feeds back into the way the company operates.
Corporate governance: a clear framework
The third main pillar of the report is corporate governance. The declared aim of the EBA is to conduct its operations to the highest ethical and legal standards. Regular review of policies, ethical decision making and active and transparent engagement with stakeholders all contribute to strengthening trust.
This is why they are committed to incorporating ESG considerations in both subcontractor assessments and in the GTC and Supplier Code, so that sustainability education is embedded throughout the value chain.
The company is working to create a working environment where collaboration, empowerment and efficiency are harmoniously combined. This not only increases transparency in internal processes, but also reinforces the company's credibility with its customers and partners.
Sustainable vision, value-based operations
The first ESG report of the EB Hungary Invest is both an account and a guideline. The document clearly reflects the company's vision to become not only a leading player in the construction industry, but also an exemplary organisation that actively contributes to a sustainable, liveable and more equitable future.
A strategy built on the three pillars of ESG - environment, society and governance - not only delivers internal improvement, but also long-term value for their partners and customers.
And EB Hungary Invest Kft.'s work doesn't end with the publication of this report - they will continue on their journey towards a more sustainable future, not only by setting milestones through commitments, but also by making them public in further reports so that their sustainability efforts can be monitored by all stakeholders in the future," the company concludes.
