Preparations are under way to resurface a total of 15,774 square metres of road within the town limits of Hódmezővásárhely. Under the terms of the contracts, four contractors have been awarded the work.

Hódmezővásárhely local authority has launched a public procurement tender. The works will be carried out on existing public roads; the construction or widening of new roads is not included in the technical specifications.

The total surface area of the road sections affected by the renovation is 15,774 square metres. According to the tender documentation, a significant proportion of the road surfacing is worn and cracked, and there are deficiencies in load-bearing capacity in several places. The deterioration has been exacerbated by utility works carried out over recent decades, as well as increased traffic volumes.

The works include, amongst other things, profiling the existing surface, laying a levelling course, replacing sections of the road structure where necessary, raising manholes and utility fittings to the required level, levelling gateways, and laying a new, 5+1-centimetre-thick AC-11 asphalt wearing course. The verges will be tidied up and reinforced; kerbs will be demolished and rebuilt where necessary; and road markings will be repainted. The markings on the cycle path will also be renewed, whilst on Rárósi Road, the works will include the trimming of vegetation.

For all parts of the project, the works are scheduled to take 75 days. During the works, the existing utility networks must also be protected, involving specialist supervision where necessary.

Contractors will be working on eleven sections of road

The public procurement contract is divided into 11 lots, with a total of four contractors sharing the work. The contract for the renovation of Észak Street was awarded to NORBO-ÉP Kt.. A total of 1,428 square metres of surfacing will be renewed on the 238-metre-long, 6-metre-wide section of road.

The Tiszaszolg Építő, Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató Kft. project can be carried out at several locations. These include the end of Nyárfa Street, covering 893 square metres; Pipacs Street, covering 792 square metres; Klapka Street, covering 730 square metres, and Rekettye Street, covering 694 square metres. The same company has also been awarded the contract for the refurbishment of Rezeda Street, where the project involves the reconstruction of 1,144 square metres of road surface.

NORBO-ÉP Kft. is listed as the contractor for works on Püspök Street and Bodzás Road, both adjacent to Észak Street. The project involves the resurfacing of 3,030 square metres of road surface on Püspök Street and 2,250 square metres on Bodzás Road.

Sándoraszfalt Útépítő Kft. has been awarded two contracts: the refurbishment of a 300-metre, 960-square-metre section of the cycle path next to Metripond, and a 1,103-square-metre section of Kodály Zoltán Street.

In Part 11, in the Rárósi sequel, the DÉLÚT Építő és Bányászati Kft. was selected as the winning contractor. Here, a 500-metre-long, 5.5-metre-wide section of road – amounting to 2,750 square metres of resurfacing – is being renovated.
