New homes built in Csongrád-Csanád county by Bodrogi Bau

Residential homes were built in Nagymágocs and Derekegyháza for one hundred and twenty residents of the Chestnut Island Castle Home. The development was financed with almost HUF 1.1 billion with EU support, the Csongrád-Csanád County branch of the Directorate-General for Social Affairs and Child Protection informed MTI. The contractor for the construction works was Bodrogi Bau Kft., based in Hódmezővásárhely.

Five modern, well-equipped and furnished houses have been built for the beneficiaries in Nagymágocs and Derekegyháza as part of a project funded by the EU with HUF 1.079 billion. Twelve people, totalling one hundred and twenty, have moved into each of the houses.

Congestion relief and accessibility were also objectives

According to the statement, the replacement of the Derekegyháza Nursing Home of the Chestnut Tree Island Integrated Social Institution "has long been a problem to be solved, as the institution, built in the second half of the 18th century in the former Károlyi-Weiss mansion, was not suitable for providing modern care". The institution, which cared for one hundred and twenty people with disabilities, was extremely overcrowded and it was not possible to make the listed building accessible.

A service centre has also been set up in both municipalities to provide day care. This provides supervision, meals, care, skills development, counselling, educational and therapeutic assistance, and transport for the people living there. Day care and support services are available not only to residents but also to other people in need. Two special vehicles for the latter form of care were also purchased for the project.

In Nagymágocs, residents in the residential homes are involved in knitted and crocheted textiles, park maintenance and laundry activities, while in Derekegyháza they are involved in plant cultivation, park maintenance and laundry activities, the statement said.
