From today they can splash around in Budakeszi's new swimming pool

The Budakeszi swimming pool, named after Hungary's first world swimming champion, Dr András Hargitay, from the Pest County town, was inaugurated.

At the event, Tamás Menczer, Minister of State for Bilateral Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Member of Parliament for Pest County Constituency No.2 called the investment a great celebration. He said that the sports facility was a big step towards making life in the Buda region as good, comfortable and convenient as possible. He added: "We are building a gymnasium because children come first". The government has spent one and a half billion forints on the development. Fenstherm Kontakt Kft. is the contractor for the building.

Josános Lázár, Minister of Construction and Transport greeted the residents of Budakeszi on behalf of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and said that the government's education and health ministry launched the institution of daily physical education in 2011 with the aim of making the next generation healthier.

The Budakeszi gymnasium was built under the National Public Education Infrastructure Development Programme launched in 2014, like many other such sports facilities in the country.

The Makovecz-style swimming pools are designed to improve the conditions for children's daily physical education, providing the infrastructure for swimming lessons. Their primary task is to serve swimming lessons organised within a school framework.

These facilities include a 25-metre, six-lane swimming pool (depth: 1.90 m, water temperature: 26-28 °C) and a 10*6-metre teaching pool (depth: 0.90 m, water temperature: 30-32 °C).
