Birdwatching towers and lookout points built on the Danube-Tisza
Four ecotourism developments have been completed on the Danube-Tisza. An educational centre at Lake Kolon, demonstration sites at Lake Fehér in Szeged and at the Vörös marsh, and an information point at Lake Nagyszéksós to present the natural values of wetlands - Mónika Kiss, head of the Ecotourism and Environmental Education Department of the Kiskunság National Park Directorate, told MTI about the results of the project.
A digital learning trail and a fishing demonstration site have also been set up
In Izsak, the Natural Heritage of Lake Kolon is presented by the Education Centre for the Curious, which also has a lookout point on top.
The new building is designed to host regular nature classes and activities, but guided tours will also be available.
You can also learn about the flora and fauna of the lake through a seven-station digital nature trail.
Near Császártöltés, at the Red Swamp Field Showground, covered resting places, birdwatching towers and a fishing showground were created, mainly for presentations and short lectures.
New information panels were installed on the 8.5 km long extended nature trail as part of the project.
New fence to protect the inhabitants of the buffalo reserve
The Kurgán Nature Conservation Demonstration Site on the outskirts of Szatymaz is the starting point for field programmes, a venue for professional meetings, training and ecotourism programmes related to the utilisation of the area and the conservation of habitats.
In the course of the development, an information point was set up at the Nagyszéksós Lake in Mórahalom, where visitors can learn about the natural values and wildlife of the nearby Natura 2000 areas. As part of the development, a fence has been built around the buffalo reserve, and outdoor benches, tables and bicycle racks have been set up for resting.
The Kiskunság National Park Directorate implemented the project with non-refundable EU funding of HUF 527 million.
