Food industry investment completed in Dunaföldvár

The latest development of Tolna County was inaugurated in Dunaföldvár. The investor is the managing director of GOF Hungary Kft., András Szurovcsák said:

<With an investment of HUF 2.3 billion and 50 percent support from the programme for the complex development of food processing plants, the drying plant with a capacity of 40 tonnes per hour was built without the use of natural gas. The development also increased the company's storage capacity by 5,000 tonnes to 60,000 tonnes. The new dryer will improve buying opportunities during the rainy harvest season.

State aid for the development of the food industry

Also speaking at the event, Agriculture Minister István Nagy said that the goal of the Hungarian agricultural government in the current cycle is for all farmers to be able to take a step forward and realise their modernisation plans.

He said that a HUF 200 billion call for proposals for food industry developments has been published. The smallest farmers can apply for 15,000 euros in non-repayable aid, small, family-sized farms can apply for a maximum of 200 million forints within a HUF 50 billion framework, and large farms for a maximum of HUF 5 billion within a HUF 150 billion framework, he added.

GOF Hungary Kft. was established in 2004 as an agricultural sales and production cooperative, and according to its website its members are small farmers or agricultural production companies with land. The Nyíregyháza-based company took control of the Dunaföldvár mill in 2008, and the plant currently operates with an annual grinding capacity of 45-50 tonnes. The company employs 200 people and achieved a net turnover of HUF 15 billion in 2022, with a profit after tax of HUF 192 million.According to the company's manager, the net turnover in 2023 was HUF 11 billion, with a profit after tax of HUF 200-300 million.
