The expansion of Cluj-Napoca airport has been completed, increasing its annual passenger capacity to 4.5 million, the Cluj County Municipality, which operates the facility, announced on Wednesday.

The airport has been extended with a new 7200 square metre departure terminal and the area for aircraft parking has been increased by 9000 square metres. They also installed 2,700 solar panels, which cover 40 percent of the airport's electricity consumption.

The investment is worth RON 366 million (around HUF 28.78 billion) and was financed by EU, government and municipal funds.
