Finally, Father Róbert Szauter, parish governor of Nemesnádudvar, blessed the new building of the estate.

New restaurant and wellness facility

Opened in 1996, the Knáb Pension was a favourite place for school camps and school trips, but there were also families who came here for holidays. Since then, the owner has continuously improved the establishment: the building has undergone a major renovation, more comfortable, more spacious, higher category rooms have been created, thanks to which the Hungarian Tourism Quality Certification Board awarded the guesthouse a 4-star rating in 2022.

In the spring of 2023, the management decided to expand the service again in response to additional needs. The old parts of the building have been demolished and the new restaurant will feature modern flavours and Swabian gastronomy. A wellness area with a wide range of services has been created, including a jacuzzi, Finnish sauna and infrared sauna. A 50 kW solar park was also installed as part of the development. The investment, which was completed in May 2024, was self-financed and created new jobs.

One of the centres of the Southern Great Plain wine region

With the expansion, the company aims to become one of the leading accommodation service providers in the Sváb Sarok and the Hajós-Baja wine region. Their aim is to offer their guests the opportunity to enjoy the closeness to nature, the tranquillity of the countryside and to discover the hidden wonders of the area in a modern but traditional Birtok. The estate can accommodate up to 42 people at a time. Guests are welcome in 15 rooms, all with bathroom, TV and minibar. The two-room family rooms are equipped with microwave, hob and kettle.

Total relaxation in nature

Modern but faithful to tradition, Katarina Farm offers guests the chance to enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside and discover the hidden wonders of the area, surrounded by nature.

Canoes can be rented at the property and tried out on the Dunavölgyi canal, which runs next to the property. A leisure park on the waterfront with a football pitch, beach volleyball court, cooking and baking facilities and a playground is available for recreation, while bicycles for hire on the estate make it easy to explore the beautiful surroundings - including the cellar village with 600 wine cellars and the Wine Museum.

The aim is to promote the wines of the region

The extensive development also affected the Katarina Event House, which opened in 2016 as Knáb Wine Bar on the property owned by KNÁB-N Kft., on the Máriavölgye cellar row, which was considered the central cellar row of the Nemesnádudvar cellar village. The building, which can accommodate 55 people and measures almost 90 sqm, now offers a complex tourist service, after the wine bar/event house was extended with a wine cellar and a show cellar.

Nemesnádudvar is one of the centres of the South Great Plain wine industry, so the development was primarily based on the inherent talent of the wine industry. The facilities and the additional infrastructure will contribute to the enhancement of events based on local products, especially wine, and to the promotion of local wine culture. The event centre will provide a niche programme of wine tastings and wine tours for visitors and tourists to the village and the local community.

A complex tourism opportunity has been realised

Katarina Birtok offers a complex tourism product with its accommodation services and programmes. It promotes wine culture and the wines of the Hajós-Baja wine region through its cooperation with the Wine Museum in the cellar and the organisation of regular wine tastings. In line with the aims of the Nemesnádudvar Wine Friends Association, the wines offered by local winemakers are mainly produced from grapes grown in the cellar and the municipality. The development could thus have a stimulating effect on the economy, in addition to boosting tourism, indirectly creating jobs for businesses and municipalities.
