Renovation of one of Budapest's most important cycle paths completed

In recent weeks, the pavement of the Margaret Bridge cycle path has been completely renovated, giving cyclists back one of the busiest transport corridors in the capital. According to the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK), the project's investor, once the renovation is completed, two lanes in each direction will be available for car drivers on the bridge.

The cycle path has been resurfaced

The works included replacing the pavement of the cycle path, replacing tactile pavement markings between the cycle path and the footpath and repainting the pavement signs. The renovation will significantly improve the service for the thousands of people cycling on Margaret Bridge between Buda and Pest and to Margaret Island.

The Margaret Bridge Cycle Route is one of the most important cycling routes in the capital, connecting the cycling routes along the Danube, Margaret Island and Szent István körút. The cycle path on the northern pavement of the Margaret Bridge, based on last summer's data

An average of more than 10,000 crossings per day by bicycle or other means of micromobility, with the number reaching 18,000 on the busiest days.

Several cycling projects in the capital were completed during the summer

They also pointed out that many cycling-friendly developments have been carried out in the capital recently, several as part of the Community budget. At the beginning of the summer, cycle lanes were made safer in several places in districts XI and VI. The investments have made it safer for cyclists, cars and pedestrians. These improvements have been made thanks to the capital's Community Budget, which was set up a few years ago," they said.
