New wing for the Cegléd spa, work has already started

The Cegléd Beach and Spa, inaugurated in spring 2003, is being developed with significant investment, and later an apartment park and camping site will be built, including a new spa wing. The two-storey block will be directly linked to the existing building by a connecting corridor.

According to the information published in the public procurement notice, the spa expansion project will be implemented for a net cost of HUF 271 million, with the best bid submitted by Horváth Építőmester Zrt. (HÉP). The contractor has already started the work, and the managing director of the company operating the spa said on Cegléd TV that they had already moved into the area in November. On the morning of 17 January, the foundation stone was ceremoniously laid and a time capsule was placed, containing, among other things, good wishes collected online from guests.

In Cegléd, Pest county, thermal water was first found during test drilling in the early 1990s, and was declared a medicinal water in 2004. The sodium chloride-hydrogen carbonate, fluoride and iodide thermal water, which rises to the surface from a depth of 1,000 metres, is excellent for treating musculoskeletal, rheumatic and neurological disorders.

The facade will match the style of the bath

The HÉP staff informed us about the development. We were told that the new wing will be built in the area between the swimming pool building and the 33m swimming pool terrace, made possible by the demolition of the fence on the site.

Since, as stated in the call for tenders, the spa building and the other buildings on the beach area have a uniformly treated, distinctive façade structure, the design of the new wing will follow this.

This is how the rooms will be designed

The new building will have a gross floor area of 212 square metres on the ground floor and 196 square metres on the first floor, and the project also includes 49 square metres of work on the site of the building already in use.

The ground floor will also include a carbonated bath and four mud bathing rooms, as well as their service rooms and a health room. The first floor will be accessed by a monolithic reinforced concrete staircase, and on this level will be a physiotherapy area and a gym. The massage room and toilets will also be located here.

Ádám Szűcs, Managing Director of the Cegléd Thermal Bath Kft., who was the first to speak at the event, stressed that he was particularly proud to be part of the celebration, as the expansion of a health facility is always a great pleasure for many.

Among other things, he also pointed out that as a result of the expansion now underway, the facility will be able to offer all balneotherapy treatments financed by NEAK (National Health Insurance Fund Management) to guests arriving in Cegléd.

Qualification as a spa is imminent

Afterwards, Dr. Norbert Ferenczi, the municipal representative of the district, spoke, who stressed that the institution is on the verge of being certified as a health resort. He also thanked those involved in the planning and preparation of the public procurement and expressed his pleasure that the city is now known nationwide for its spa.

New development, new workers

Mayor András Csáky also summed up his thoughts: referring back to the words of the municipal representative, he pointed out that the municipality will make a decision next week that will allow the declaration of the spa this year.

He reminded that the energy investments that will solve the energy needs of the spa are expected in the near future: the 2.5 billion HUF support contract is waiting to be signed, he said. However, he reminded the manager in a friendly tone that he could not sit back: the building was expected to be completed by the end of the year, so that new staff would have to be recruited.

Afterwards, Member of Parliament László Földi gave a short speech and closed the list of speakers. He thanked both the tender preparers and the government for their support, and also mentioned the next major development worth HUF 2.5 billion. Finally, he congratulated all those present and wished the contractor well.
