We toured the renovated gigantic main building of the University of Dunaújváros from basement to attic

On behalf of the Foundation for the University of Dunaújváros, based on the plans of ArchiNEST Építész és Mérnökiroda Kft. plans, the experts of ZÁÉV Építőipari Zrt. completely renovated the institution's 6,400 square metre main building over the course of a year. We have previously reported on the work several times. The contractors, in collaboration with the city's chief architect, modernised the university's only remaining locally protected socialist realist-style building while preserving its external features. They took a similar approach with the auditorium, where they retained the original, characteristic interior design solutions.

In ten phases, the huge school building was renovated inside and out. On the lowest level, state-of-the-art thermal and water insulation was installed, and after the new space allocation, the server room, the cafeteria, the student centre, the archive and several storage rooms were located here. The renewed main building houses the Rector's office and the study department. In addition, there is a gym, changing rooms, meeting rooms, teachers' rooms, eight seminar rooms and five large lecture theatres.
The building's mechanical and electrical systems have been modernised and nearly 5,000 windows and doors have been replaced. The entire wooden roof structure of the main building was dismantled, and after rebuilding and insulation, nearly 2,700 square metres were covered with new tiles and sheet metal.
