New investment at Liszt Ferenc International Airport to start
According to the announcement published in the EU Public Procurement Bulletin, an office building will be constructed at Liszt Ferenc International Airport. With the development of the areas around Terminal 2, the aim is to provide space for airport operational staff in a unified Airport Service Centre.
The new building will also house offices, dressing rooms and warehouses. The centre will be used by a wide range of people: ground handling staff, staff from various airlines and some departments of the Budapest Airport group.
The winning bidder will be responsible for the preparation of the construction plans, based on the building permit and the tender documents, and for the general construction of the building and the external areas of the annex. The general design task shall be carried out taking into account the design modifications defined in the technical terms of reference.
Three safety zones, modern technologies
The "T" plan is for a building of varying height: the longitudinal wing will be ground floor + 1 storey, while the transverse wing (the "head of the plan") will be ground floor + 3 storeys. The total floor area is 9529.94 square metres, with a planned height of 12.26 metres.
The new facility will include three different security classification zones: ground, controlled ground and SRA (security restricted area) requirements on the airside. The main supporting structure of the building is made of monolithic reinforced concrete. The ground floor will be used for service areas, the upper floors for offices and four lifts.
The design is based on BIM according to the expectations set by BUD. The project will also focus on sustainability: the tender design is based on obtaining the BREEAM Excellent certification, and the winning bidder will be responsible for obtaining the BREEAM "Excellent" certification for the building.
Complex task: office building, parking, utilities, green area
The general construction work will also include the development of the external areas: a recreational park, access road, parking spaces, road and utility connections, and green areas.
The contractor must ensure that all necessary permits are obtained, including any amendments to the building permit and the occupancy permit.
Deadline for submission of proposals: 4 August 2025.
