A special time capsule was unveiled at MTK Sportpark

The blue and white club celebrated the 137th anniversary of MTK's founding on Sunday, and the MTK Sportpark time capsule was unveiled at the event. The event was held at the 9.5-hectare sports park on Kerepesi út, which was handed over in September and was designed by Bayer Construct Zrt. completed. We have already presented in our newspaper.

The MTK Sportpark time capsule played an important role in today's event. These capsules are usually placed in the foundation of the facility, but the association broke with tradition, and the president announced at the event that the time capsule would be placed on an artistic pedestal made of foamed aluminium, designed and constructed by DBE Furniture, which was unveiled on Monday. The work will now be visible to everyone who visits the MTK Kerepesi Road Sports Park.

The first physical exercisers

At the event, Zsolt Gyulay, president of the Hungarian Olympic Committee (MOB), which celebrates its 130th anniversary this year, and a former athlete of the club, drew attention to the glorious past of the association, which was founded in 1888: MTK athletes have won a total of 103 medals, including 39 gold medals, at the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. He added that the blue and white club's first Olympic champion was Zoltán Halmay in 1904, followed by Pál Schmitt and Lídia Sákovicsné Dömölky – who are National Athletes – and other celebrities such as Aladár Gerevich, László Papp, Botond Storcz and the Liu brothers.

Two-time Olympic épée champion Pál Schmitt recalled that the founders of MTK were the first to use the term "physical exercise" in the club's name, and also pointed out that with 103 medals won, the blue and white club ranks 33rd among countries in the Olympic all-time rankings. 33rd place in the all-time Olympic rankings.

World record-holding association

Tamás Deutsch, president of MTK Budapest, emphasised that the club has overcome difficulties such as the dismemberment of the country under the Treaty of Trianon and the persecution of Jews, the club can also claim a world record, as it is the only sports club to have been represented at every Summer Olympics since 1896, when the country was allowed to participate in the games.
