It will be possible to enter and exit the motorway in the direction of Budapest and Győr after the completion of the junction being built at Biatorbágy, which is part of the M1 motorway expansion project. We also show the progress of the works in pictures.

In January, work was carried out at 89 locations on the sections of the M1 motorway to be expanded, according to the Facebook page. Despite the winter weather, heavy snow and precipitation, and severe frosts, 1,500 people are working continuously every day both directly on the main track and behind the scenes.

A completely new junction will be built near Biatorbágy

A completely new junction with a new route and design will be built at Biatorbágy, which will enable access to and from Budapest and Győr. During construction, a new cycle path section will also be built on a separate route along main road No. 1.

Several departments are working on the project in parallel.

At the current stage of construction, in addition to earthworks, other works are also underway in the area: modernisation of the drainage system, embankment widening and bridge construction. According to plans, the slip road leading to Budapest will be opened to traffic at the end of May.

Numerous background tasks help progress

The summary of MKIF revealed that their colleagues carried out 23 road construction works, 7 temporary traffic engineering tasks, 53 bridge construction works, 4 hydraulic engineering works, and 2 tasks related to environmental protection facilities. These are often not visible from the main track, but they are essential for the next phases of the expansion to begin.
