The construction of the first major junction marked the start of the largest road construction project ever undertaken in the eastern part of Debrecen. A 10-kilometre-long transport corridor will be built in several stages.

In Debrecen, the first phase of the eastern internal transport corridor will connect main road 471 with main road 48. Work has begun on the construction of a junction on main road 471 and a 400-metre section of road connected to it as part of the Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium investment.

The new transport corridor could be built in three stages

The 10-kilometre-long road will be built in several stages and will connect the northern and southern parts of the eastern part of the city.

  • The first section will provide a connection from Main Road 4 to Road 471.,
  • connects between main roads 471 and 48,
  • The third stage of development will enable access to Diószegi Road from Main Road 48.

A development also solves the water supply for the buildable areas.

Based on traffic load, priority was given to connecting Sámsoni Road and Vámospércsi Road, thereby relieving the connecting roads in this part of the city. The aim is to reduce the number of cars in the outskirts of the city with the internal transport corridor. The investment will provide a connection between industrial areas and residential areas. The project will also include the expansion of the capacity of the main collector sewer No. 9. The development of the water infrastructure will serve the water supply and sewage disposal of the newly built-up areas covering 1,900 hectares.

The resources necessary for the implementation of the first phase are available.

Parallel to the construction of the first sections, the preparation of the licensed plans can also begin, which will affect an approximately 3.5-kilometre section of the entire length of the eastern internal transport corridor. This will run through an undeveloped area between main roads 471 and 48. A sum of 5.7 billion forints is available from the Top Plus fund for the first phase. Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium (ÉKM) is also participating in the investment as a consortium partner, as it concerns the connection of transport routes maintained by them.
