A series of road renovations starts in the South Transdanubian region
A large-scale road renovation programme in the south-western part of the country was announced at a press conference in Siklós on 23 September: the Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. investment project will modernise smaller, so-called „4- and 5-digit roads” in the South Transdanubia region.
With the EU grant TOP Plusz, the state road operator will start the complete reconstruction of more than 57 kilometres of secondary roads on 22 sections. The company will implement the projects with the help of a gross grant of HUF 15.2 billion from the European Union under 7 grant contracts, according to a press release.
Work starts in Siklós
As part of this series of developments, the 5712 Siklós – Drávaszabolcs connecting road will be renovated over a total length of approximately 2.7 kilometres, with the work carried out by Strabag Általános Építő Kft. between 1+777 and 3+542, and the SOLTÚT Kft. between kilometre markers 0+005 and 0+960, according to our newspaper's information and public procurement data. Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. will soon hand over the work site, and the development will take 120 days.
At the opening ceremony of the project, Csaba Nagy, Member of Parliament, welcomed the participants, followed by speeches by Gábor Hesz, Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. Development and Renovation Director, and Gábor Riegl, Mayor of Siklós.
The work will include both the inner and outer parts of Siklós, local repairs, road structure replacement, and graded pavement reinforcement, as well as reconstruction of the road to the wearing course, including the embankment, in some sections after the structure replacement. The project will also include the rehabilitation of the roadside drainage system, culverts and the bridge over the section, as well as other works.
