In Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County, on the section of road 3716 connecting Vilmány and Vámosújfalu, between kilometre markers 5+564 and 8+380, HE-DO carried out road renovation work on behalf of Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt..

Besides locals, many tourists also use this route

During the works, the specialists paved about 17,000 m² of asphalt in order to create safe and comfortable traffic conditions on this busy road section, which is particularly important for local road users and tourists.
The contractor's website also reported that the first stage of the works involved brush and shrub clearance, followed by embankment cutting, profiling of the existing pavement and localised track structure replacements.

Full width of the road reconstructed

After the preparatory works, a binder course was built between km 7+011 and 8+011, followed by a wearing course of 5.0-7.5 cm over the entire surface. The rehabilitation process included the cleaning of the culverts, the painting of pavement signs and the installation of new signs and tape barriers. The works started on 30 June 2025 and were carried out with EU funding on behalf of Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt..

The Regec serpentine has also been resurfaced

The reconstruction was carried out on one of the most challenging sections, the Regec serpentine, which made the logistics of asphalt paving and the quality of the asphalt layers particularly difficult due to the large differences in level and the small radius of the curves. The need for rehabilitation was justified by the poor condition of the pavement, which also compromised road safety. The uneven surface and deep potholes not only made traffic less comfortable, but also made it difficult to drive safely.
The reconstruction will ensure a better quality road, resulting in not only more comfortable but also safer traffic. In addition, it will help the transport of visitors to the Regency Castle, as the route is also important for tourists.

Rebuilding the tape barriers

The renovation work has been completed, and certification, documentation and technical handover are currently underway. KM Építő Ltd. carried out the demolition and reconstruction of the guardrails in the project.
This renovation not only improves traffic safety, but also ensures the long-term sustainability of transport connections in the region.
