45 flowering hornbeams and 2 linden trees will be planted to replace 37 invasive trees on a street in downtown Szeged.

Hajnóczy Street will be modernised between Jósika Street and Londoni Boulevard, where KÉSZ Csoport will also install a modern rainwater utilisation system.

KÉSZ Csoport recently handed over the Tilia office building on Hajnóczy Street, and now it is also playing a role in beautifying the street: KÉSZ Csoport, the Cool LIFE programme coming directly from Brussels and the local government are financing the renovation of the downtown street.

 

They are also equipped with rainwater collectors.

The complete renovation of Gogol Street is currently underway, where technology suitable for collecting rainwater is also being used. These elements, which can contribute significantly to more sustainable operation and living vegetation, will also be part of the renovation of Hajnóczy Street. This year, one-third of the renovation of Hajnóczy Street will be completed, with the remaining parts scheduled for completion by 2029.

 

They are replacing the trees with native species.

„Preparations for the renovation of the section between Jósika Street and Londoni Boulevard will begin on Monday with the removal of 37 Japanese pagoda trees, which will be replaced by 45 flowering hornbeams and two linden trees,” according to József Binszki, Deputy Mayor for Urban Policy, as quoted on Szeged's official website.

During the investment of approximately 300 million forints

  • A new pavement made of clinker bricks is being laid on an area of 774 square metres.,
  • New asphalt pavement covering 1,200 square metres.
  • 16 drainage boxes are installed to store rainwater,
  • a parking lane will be created with two accessible parking spaces and ten standard parking spaces,
  • In addition, the connecting pavements of the London Ring Road will also be resurfaced.

 

 

The aim of the redevelopment is to create a greener, more liveable urban space that blends in with the historic surroundings, according to the KÉSZ Csoport community page, which also adds:

„The renovation of Oroszlán Street was a major project for us recently, just as the TILIA office building on Hajnóczy Street also serves the development of the neighbourhood. Now all this is connected to a new development, further shaping one of the well-known parts of Szeged's city centre.”
